Snowflake's final farewell

Friday, December 28, 2012
We had a blast with Snowflake but all good things must end I suppose.  So this was how we found her on her final day with us.
She was sitting in front of our computer with this note typed out...

We had a great time Snowflake...thanks for making our classroom super fun in December.
I know March seems very far away but --- I just posted a new unit called...
Leprechaun on the Ledge
It is a fun unit with all sorts of printables and fun pages to do in March as well as a similar idea to Elf on the Shelf.  With just weeks before Spring Break your kiddos might be getting antsy.  Why not try using the Leprechaun on the Ledge to keep them engaged?  Fun stuff you can check out here.

Happy New Year dear friends!! xoxox

It was our Elf Snowflake's Birthday TODAY!!!

Wednesday, December 19, 2012
Oh boy what a day today was in room 16.  When the kiddos entered the room there were banners and cupcakes and a big sign on our white board.
Then they found this on their desks..
Shh!  Don't tell the principal...we have a 'healthy coyotes' rule that we just might be breaking...YIKES!
Next they found Snowflake over here...

She was sitting with her cupcake and a  birthday candle right in front of her...conveniently by our birthday balloon straws.

And yes we did sing Happy Birthday to her ~~  even before we did flag salute.  Can you believe it?!?  She was right under her cute birthday banner.  What a day to remember!!!
Now yesterday though I think was my favorite ELF day yet.  She came in and changed our schedule all up.  The first thing she wanted us to do was GO HOME!  Wait, what?!?!  That's just crazy.  The kids couldn't stop laughing.  It was a crazy, mixed up sort of day.  She took over -- my favorite thing she has done to date.  Silly, naughty elf girl!
Stay tuned this weekend for more elf fun and pictures!!

Snowflake has been busy...

Thursday, December 13, 2012
Our little friend Snowflake has been so busy this past week.  Here are some things she has been up to...
elf on the shelf ideas

This morning we found her making snowangels on the counter in our hallway and she brought in a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree too.

She was just hanging around on Tuesday  in a stocking on our TV.

She decided to have her own learning target on Wednesday:
Smiling!  Oh, if our standards were just that easy to teach.

Here she was roasting marshmallows over a candle and left some marshmallow treats for the little angels in my class that moved up to Super during the week.

She seemed to be thirsty - her drink of choice Walmart's maple syrup.  My students couldn't figure out why she was drinking all day but the liquid didn't go down in her bottle... { wink, wink }

Snow ball fight!!!!  Of course she organized a game with our other friends from our class library.
I can't wait to see what she gets into next week...

Our little Elf is sooo mischievous

Tuesday, December 4, 2012
Oh  my goodness I'm having so much fun with this little elf.  Who knew?!!?  The minds behind Elf on a Shelf are just BRILLANT!!!  After we met her see post { here }  we came back on Monday and she ended up all entwined in snowflake Christmas lights ~  which was actually quite appropriate since my class named her Snowflake.

Then TODAY we found her in a Hershey's Kiss Candy Sleeping Bag with little, teeny, tiny hershey kisses that were sent especially from Santa for the kiddos that move their clips up this week.  ( of course the big Hershey kisses were gone...I bet she ate them all! )
 { ** as seen on pinterest ** I can't take credit for this cute idea! }

Oh -- they are soo tiny!  Thank you Santa!  { By the way - I wrapped chocolate chips in tin foil to make these. }

The first little angel getting her reward today!  They loved this BTW!

How is it CURRENTLY for December already?!?

Sunday, December 2, 2012
Wow ~~ time is slipping through my fingers WAY too fast!  I love reading everyone's currently so I will be visiting some blogs today and I'm excited about that.  Link up with Farley for the fun!
Be sure to check back often as our new friend 'Snowflake' { the elf } will be having lots of fun adventures in Room 16.....stay tuned!!

She CAME all the way from the NORTH POLE

Saturday, December 1, 2012
 { "I just like to smile...smiling is my favorite!" }  ~~  HA!  Great movie!  Well I hope you figured it out with the clue.  Our elf on the shelf arrived yesterday!!!!!  I wrapped her up in a package and stuck it in the FREEZER all day!  The clerk came in acting all crazy and said, " Oh my goodness Mrs. Moore I hate to interrupt but you received a package from the North Pole."  I was all shocked and the return address said Santa's Workshop ~~  WOW! Can you imagine that.  The kids were beside themselves with excitement.  Of course the package was covered with Santa stickers too.
So we proceeded to open the package and this is what we found:

Our elf came and ~~  she was wearing a mustache!  It happened to be mustache day at my school so of course she came in the spirit.  The kids laughed so hard!  I know kids aren't suppose to touch 'elf' but I had to let them just this once because she was sooo cold from the freezer...I mean North Pole.
Make your elf 'cold' when he/she arrives to your classroom

I had to let them feel how cold she was and they couldn't believe she came all that far and was still cold.

But then I had to be sure to read the story so they knew not to touch her again...we didn't want her to lose her magical powers.

She is just adorable and we will have soo much fun with her.  We had a great afternoon with her there 'watching' and taking notes for Santa.  I think she's going to get into the first aid kit over the weekend...SpongeBob bandaids anyone?!?  Oh we voted on our name and they picked Snowflake.  She has little snowflakes embroidered around her skirt so I think it fits.  This is so much fun - can you tell it's our first year doing it?  I'm so stinkin' excited!  I think I see a cute Elf on the Shelf Unit in my future for next year.
