Homo'phones' and Minecraft...

My sweet friends ~ I am on Spring Break!!  Whoo-hoo!!  For those of you who aren't --I'm sorry but I'm guessing it's either coming up or already came right?!?!  Well I have to share this darling  am I even allowed to say that about my own unit???  I hope so because I really, really LIKE this one guys.  It's homo'PHONES' with phones get it?

homo'phone' center

I know this part doesn't have to do with phones but had to add it anyway.  Will your kiddos have fun with this?  Tell me what you think and I will give away 2 tomorrow.  Don't forget to leave me your email.

Now it's mom time - My sweet son is 11 and he wanted a minecraft party -- so since I LOVE to plan KIDS parties I was all over it.  Notice I said kid parties --- my gift lies in the word Kid here.  I'd much rather plan a kids party than an adult one -- is that weird of me??!?!
Anywho here are some pictures of our amazing day together.

{ creeper cookie pops }

Me making tons of stuff

Creeper ice cream cake

The cake pieces look like Minecraft grass blocks -- it was perfect because he didn't want the coconut grass on top.

We had a bit of a photo booth with mustaches, bow ties, etc.  I had to make a creeper mouth though too...right?!?!

Cover boxes with brown and bunch up green paper on top to look like a grass brick for a decoration.

Draw creeper faces on green buckets from party city - you have favor 'bags'.

Game - shoot the creeper - they tried to hit his 'nose' with a nerf arrow gun...they loved this.  The girls marked where they hit with numbered circle labels to keep track of who was the closest.

TNT - I covered toiled paper rolls with red paper and added TNT with my cricket...then threw in some red licorice.  Of course real minecraft tnt is square I know that...LOL

Pick up some green balloons and draw on your own creeper face.
We had a blast!!!  If you have stayed with me this long don't forget to leave a comment for the homo'phone' unit.

UPDATE:  Random winners : Tammy from the Resourceful Apple and Michelle.  I hope you LOVE it!!

Busy, Busy, Busy...

I'm a little horrified...okay A LOT horrified that it has been so long since my last post...so unlike me!  Well I have a 5th grader and I'm enjoying every last minute I have with him on my campus.  So I have done Walk through the Revolution and a Riley's Farm field trip - where the kids reenact battle scenes etc. from that time.  SO MUCH FUN!  My sweet boy was KING GEORGE the 3rd.  He even nailed an english accent for his part...such a proud mom. :oD

I could just eat him up...I know, I know I'm his mom...but you have to admit he's a very handsome king.

Just hang with me cuz I'm gonna be ALL OVER the MAP on this one folks.  Here is our leprechaun friend drinking milk with a mustache straw with some Lucky Charms by his side.

Patrick O'Naughty didn't do quite as much as I wanted him to - I had a few { ok way more than usual } subs this month - some for Josh's stuff and I had common core mtgs. too.  Here he is bribing encouraging my kiddos to behave.

This was St. Paddy's Day sorta { the Friday before } of course he messed up our room.  Here he was gloating on our tipped over rocking chair.

Books EVeRyWheRe!

Now for some family fun!  Even though my kids aren't little anymore we still have some st. paddy's day fun.  Green pancakes, coins and presents on St. Paddy's Day at the Moore house!

So there you have it...there's so much more I wanted to share ~~  but off to pick up for volleyball carpool - Gotta Go!!  Can't wait to see my Cali peeps at the Bloggy Meet Up on Saturday!!!!

What our Leprechaun is up to and a bloggy Meet up?!?

Last week I was { sad } at my class so they leprechaun wasn't up to much!! I had a 1/2 day sub and they must've been learning from our dear ol' naughty leprechaun because they were just that....naughty!!  She had to get a teacher from across the hall to come in because they were being loud and rude!  Insert Big Ol' SAD FACE here!!!!  I know that I will be gone a day and a 1/2 this coming week so I really laid into them about behaving for a sub.  Anywho because of that I didn't feel like having my friend ( the leprechaun ) do much that would be considered { fun }.

He was hanging out by our flag doing the pledge all day long...that must have gotten tiring.

Hopefully I will be able to report to you that they were
** GREAT** for my sub this coming week.  Fingers Crossed!  Now for some fun...I don't want to just repeat some of the things that my elf did in December but I need some more ideas people.  I will do the typical footprints and tipped over chairs, etc. as it get's closer to St. Paddy's day... I am going to have him eating a bowl of Lucky Charms one day this week.  But give me an idea he can be doing in my classroom along with your email and I will pick and idea/post pics and give you a product from my store of your choice for FREE!!!!  So be creative and leave me a comment below.

Also check out these fun newbies...

Lastly and probably MOST IMPORTANTLY -- the So. Cal chicks are having a BLOGGY MEET UP!!!!  I can't wait!!  Considering I got lost and ended up 1 1/2 hours late to the other one I will have my GPS and mapquest ready to GO!!!!
I am linking up to RSVP -- so looking forward to this!!!

Don't forget to leave me ideas/comments - thanks everyone!!

The Leprechaun on the Ledge is working like a { Lucky } charm

So spring break is acomin' yay!!  But...that also means spring fever is in FULL force!!!  I have Leprechaun on the Ledge to the rescue.  LOL  He keeps his Irish eyes on me little lads and makes sure they are behaving.  Here is what he we have been up to for the last 2 days.

I know it's still snowing where some of you live -- but are you in need of a 'leprechaun on the ledge?'

Lunch Bunch, Lorax and Leprechaun Fun

Today was a lunch bunch day...do you guys do that with your students?  I have some reward coupons in my treasure chest and they can pick one that says lunch with the teacher - they can pick a friend and I bring a treat!  Shh!  Don't tell the admin -- something like cookies or a cupcake.
They are so cute and always look forward to it.
I had this idea come to me right when I woke up ~  and I can be quite spontaneous almost where it can become a problem.  So I knew BEFORE school I had to go to the store and buy red licorice and some cotton candy.  Really I don't know where I was going to find cotton candy at Ralph's but I was determined to make this cute Lorax snack.  So in the candy aisle -- NOTHING!!!!  So I went to the seasonal Easter aisle -- BINGO!!!  Tubs of the stuff were everywhere in every color you could imagine with cute bunnies on the tubs. SCORE!!!!  This is how cute they turned out and of course I even squeezed in a snack response sheet at 6am this morning.
Now for the FUN I can't wait to begin....I will be introducing the Leprechaun on the Ledge tomorrow.  He will get into all kinds of mischief kinda like { the ___ on the shelf }
Here are some sample pages they will get to do from my { unit }.
Here is a picture of my friend -- the Leprechaun on the Ledge - his name will be announced tomorrow..

Be sure to tune in until St. Paddy's day my friends to see what kind of destruction fun this little friend has in my classroom.

Dr. Seuss { can I even say that?!? } and Currently

Today was fun...today was the best! We were so busy - we forget to take our spelling test! { gasp! }

Seriously we did...oops!  We had our 5th grade reading buddies right after Friday Assembly - then straight to green eggs and ham.  Then PE - a couple mystery readers and some fun activities.

We totally switched it up this year...we are always the cat in the hat with whiskers and the hat...but this year we decided to be thing 1 and 2's.  Such fun!  I love changing things up a bit.  They had a great day!

{ graphing }

Our directed draws and bulletin board.

The day just isn't complete without some Mystery Readers of course.

Tell me about your day!  Did you celebrate today or will you on Monday.  If you are celebrating on Monday ~ leave me a comment with your email and I will pick 3 of you to give my
( off limits - no no ) Dr. Seuss unit to...We aren't allowed to sell them but I'd love to share. :oD

I love currently and had to add it on this post...be sure to visit { Farley } and link up too.

I know I have shoved a lot of things into this blog post.  Let's see I'm very sad about my sweet son who is soon to move on to middle school.  I'm cherishing every moment I have with him at our little school.  We just had the colonial tea and it was a blast!  Don't hate me first grade teachers but yes I'm looking to change grades soon. I'm looking for more INDEPENDENCE...I have taught 2nd and 3rd and am wanting to move up, up , up.  It's been about 15 years in first so I need a change.  I teach at a small school so it might be hard but our district may be changing boundaries around so I'm hoping to make a change in another year.  It was kinda tricky coming up with 'v' words by the way. LOL
